NATHPO Forum on Proposed Revisions to Section 106

Description
We are pleased to invite you to participate in two virtual forums on July 21 and July 28 to discuss the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s (ACHP) proposed revisions to the Section 106 regulations at 36 CFR Part 800. The ACHP has requested that Council members submit an additional round of comments by August 3 to further inform this effort. To support the development of NATHPO’s comments, we are again seeking input directly from Tribal Leaders, THPOs, and Tribal cultural resource professionals.
The upcoming forums build on two 90-minute Tribal forums NATHPO facilitated in February, which informed the development of NATHPO’s initial comment letter submitted on February 27, available here: NATHPO’s initial comment letter_February 27, 2026
The upcoming forums are intended to provide Tribal Leaders, THPOs, and Tribal cultural resource professionals with an opportunity to share their views on how the Section 106 regulations could be updated, amended, improved, or streamlined. NATHPO will begin each session with a PowerPoint presentation to orient participants before moving to open discussion.
