Virtual
The Association on American Indian Affairs’ 11th Annual Repatriation Conference is a leading national training event supporting Native Nations and institutions engaged in the return and protection of Ancestors, burial belongings, and sacred and cultural heritage. This year’s Conference, Feeding
the Fire: Advancing the Movement, offers a fully virtual, four-week
experience designed to meet the realities of repatriation work today through
accessible, relationship-centered, and Native-led programming. Attendees will
engage in interactive training on the Native American Graves Protection and
Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), Native-led international repatriation efforts,
healing-centered cultural sessions, and forward-looking conversations on data
sovereignty and Native Nation-directed research throughout February 2026.
The summary agenda for the Conference is available at https://www.indian-affairs.org/11thannualagenda.html and is packed with can’t-miss sessions. From hands-on NAGPRA training to inspiring keynote addresses by Michelle D. Schenandoah, citizen of the OnĘŚyota’:aka (Oneida) Nation Wolf Clan of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and Shannon O’Loughlin, citizen of the Choctaw Nation, the agenda reflects the full scope of repatriation work today. With interactive workshops, cultural programming, a special film screening of The Doctrine, and opportunities to connect with leaders carrying this
work forward, this schedule is your guide to advancing the movement—do not miss
it.
