Friday, February 28, 2025

Description

Applications are now being accepted for the USDA Forest Service’s Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) through February 28, 2025.

The grant program helps at-risk local communities and Tribes plan for and reduce wildfire risk and implement the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy. The $1 billion five-year competitive grant program funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law prioritizes communities that:

  2. Are low income or,
  3. Have been impacted by a severe disaster within the previous 10 years which increased wildfire risk and/or hazard.

This year a total of $200 million is available for:

  • Individual grants of up to $250,000 can be used to develop and update community wildfire protection plans; and
  • Individual grants of up to $10 million can be used for wildfire resilience projects that implement community wildfire protection plans.
