Consultation on Tribal Barriers at USDA: EDUCATION & RESEARCH

Description
On behalf of the Secretary, you are cordially invited by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to participate in USDA’s Consultation on Tribal Barriers at USDA. These consultations build upon the consultations that occurred from 2021-2023.
Topics will include progress reports on previously identified Tribal Barriers, work that still needs to be done, needed tribal input, and discussions of new barriers and steps to overcome them. Like last year, the consultations will be divided into five topic areas over five days.
Prior to each Consultation session, a Tribal Caucus is planned and will be facilitated by external Tribal partner(s). No federal staff will attend the Caucus and this time is set aside for Tribal Leaders and Tribal staff to have a conversation about the topic. Following the Tribal Caucus, the Consultation will occur between Tribal Leadership and Federal Consulting Officials, with the Listening Session concluding the day's session. The Tribal Caucus will be 2:00pm-3:00pmET with the Consultation and Listening Session from 3:00pm-5:30pmET.
Once registered for this virtual engagement session, you will receive an email providing the link to join on the day of the scheduled event. A separate ZOOM registration is required to participate each day, and the topics include:
1. Monday, April 22: Education & Research
2. Tuesday, April 23: Forests & Public Lands Management
3. Wednesday, April 24: Farming, Ranching, & Conservation
4. Thursday, April 25: Economic Development
5. Friday, April 26: Food, Food Safety & Trade
Framing Papers will be provided for each topic area. These are not meant to limit conversation, but rather provide issues that have been previously identified and to guide the conversation.
