Building Intentional Teams - Session 3
Wednesday, December 18, 2024 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EST)
Description
Collaboration is a significant part of human lives, yet typically we put more care, effort and attention into our work products than the relationships between the people we’re working with. But the choices we make in our working relationships - within our teams, with our partners, and with communities affected by our work - reverberate across many fields, projects, and people. In this free virtual workshop series, we will explore how we can build more intentional teams, improving our team dynamics and leading to more effective, equitable, and reciprocal experiences and outcomes for everyone involved.
Over 3 sessions, COMPASS staff will share concepts and resources (including the Prosocial Core Design Principles, based on Elinor Ostrom’s Nobel-Prize-winning work on governing the commons) and facilitate guided reflections, activities and discussions designed to help you:
- Identify your value motivations
- Observe how team interactions are influenced by values
- Find opportunities for bringing intention to your teams
- Develop a draft plan for strengthening your teams
How our teams work together matters just as much as what our teams are working on, and we owe it to ourselves and to each other to be intentional in our team relationships and dynamics. We are constantly making choices that affect our teams, our work, and the lives of others beyond our immediate circles. It’s important that we make those choices intentionally, in ways that center relationships and cooperation and the well-being of all, not just a few. It isn’t easy, but it is important, and it is possible. We hope you’ll join us as we explore how, and support each other to co-create that future!
By registering for this course, you are committing to active participation in all three sessions of the workshop, for the benefit of both yourself and the group (see schedule below). Please also plan to use a webcam whenever possible during discussion and breakout room portions of the workshop. Due to the progression of materials presented and the paired exercises, we can’t admit anyone later than 15 minutes after start time. More information can be found in the FAQ page on our website.
