The National Forest Foundation in partnership with the USDA Forest Service will, through their Communications and Partnership program representatives, share information and be available to discuss the proposed national communication and outreach campaign and Tribal implications. The proposed campaign strives to awaken and strengthen all people’s connection to National Forest System lands through a relatable and inspirational campaign that encourages respectful and mindful visitor opportunities. Campaign Objectives:

• Use mindful, inclusive communication and outreach language, calls to action, themes, and imagery.

• Harness the power of storytelling, opening doors for meaningful messengers.

• Sustain respectful, ongoing, and relational processes.

• Serve under-represented, marginalized, and Tribal communities and peoples.

• Increase the social and psychological safety of historically marginalized forest visitors.

2. NATIONAL STRATEGIC PLANNING EFFORT:

REIMAGINE RECREATION

USDA Forest Service Recreation, Heritage, and Volunteer Resources program representatives will share information and be available to discuss this strategic planning effort about recreation across all national forest system lands.

The Reimagine Recreation effort will update the Framework for Sustainable Recreation (the agency’s national recreation strategy) and develop a National Recreation Action Plan for how to achieve the vision and goals of the updated strategy. The Agency seeks input to inform both the updated recreation strategy and new recreation action plan.

This tribal forum will include topic-based conversations such as:

• Recreation at/around sacred sites, including ski areas

• Forest product collection & law enforcement interactions

• Hunting and fishing (subsistence and recreational)

• Fee waiver for eligible Tribal users of recreation sites (day use or overnight camping, etc.)

• Other recreation related topics
