Webinar Description: The Department of Interior is a major land manager and natural resource trustee for the United States. What happens when oil spills and DOI property and natural resources are oiled or otherwise impacted? Is the Department reliant on settlements with the Responsible Party for damages? How does the Department access the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund (the Fund) to recover damages or unreimbursed response costs in a timely manner? Join the National Pollution Fund Center (NPFC) as they explore the types of damages and response costs DOI bureaus can recover from the Fund, the process for submitting claims to the Fund, how DOI access differs from state or local governments and private individuals, and what DOI and other stakeholders can do now to reduce the likelihood of damages from spills.
