Description: FEMA will host a virtual tribal consultation on DHS and FEMA preparedness grant programs, including the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) and the Tribal Homeland Security Grant Program (THSGP). FEMA’s senior leadership from Resilience and the Grant Programs Directorate (GPD) will lead the consultation. FEMA Resilience aims to build a culture of preparedness through insurance, mitigation, continuity, preparedness, programs, and grants. GPD provides grants to prepare state, local, tribal, and territorial governments and first responders, as well as ports, transit systems, and non-profit organizations, to measurably improve capability and reduce the risks from man-made and natural disasters. Topics to discuss include:
• Tribal emergency preparedness grant funding needs;
• Tribal barriers and challenges, including the accessibility of EMPG and THSGP funds under the Homeland Security Act of 2002; and
• Other tribal needs related to building resilience.
