Description

Under the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) of 1993 and the Government Performance and Results Modernization Act (GPRAMA) of 2010, federal agencies are required to publish a strategic plan one year after a presidential inauguration and to annually track their performance in implementing that plan. The Department of the Interior (the Department or Interior) is preparing to release its Fiscal Year (FY) 2026–2030 Strategic Plan in October 2025.

The strategic plan outlines the Department’s strategic goals and objectives for the next four years. These objectives will be supported by performance measures that define the outcomes the Department seeks to achieve. These goals are measured annually to ensure transparency and accountability. Interior is committed to working in partnership with Tribal Nations to develop performance measures and improve how progress is measured—ensuring the outcomes are meaningful and valuable to Tribal communities.
